When
first I saw your photo
You
know you stole my heart
I
had no other choice
But
to love you from the start
You
called me your daddy
The
first time that we met.
It
filled my soul with joy.
That
day, I won’t forget.
I
held you close to me
And
made a promise true
That
I would never fail
This
life to guide you through
You
broke my heart dear child
The
day you flew away
T’was
nothing I could do
But
worry, cry, and pray
You
didn’t want nor need me
Was
all I could perceive
And
all that I could do
Was
sit at home and grieve
In
time you did return
Had
made success your own
It
filled by heart with joy
To
see how high you’d flown
Still
it aggrieved my soul
I
somehow felt betrayed
That
you managed very well
Without
your Daddy’s aid.
